Chapter 148: Visitor
by PotatoWhen Naoko lifted her eyes from the laptop screen she had brought, she instinctively glanced at Lei Yin sitting on the hospital bed. She found him staring at her unblinkingly.
“Lei, do you want some water, or need to use the bathroom?” Naoko hurried over to his side.
“I just realized how captivating you look when you’re focused on work,” Lei Yin said, kissing the back of her left hand.
“Silly,” Naoko blushed, sitting down gently and resting her head on his right shoulder.
Though the smell of disinfectant was not pleasant, the two snuggled together, paying no mind to this minor issue.
“Lei, does your mother know you’re hospitalized?” Naoko asked with her eyes closed, like a cat.
“Probably not. I’ve asked Maeda to keep it a secret. If they found out, they’d worry too much,” Lei Yin thought the only benefit of studying away was not having to check in at home daily. Even with a situation like this, if handled discreetly, his mother, Sumiko, wouldn’t need to know.
“It seems Uncle Maeda has become your accomplice. From his complaints, I guess you’ve made him lie for you quite a bit before? With his wife on one side and a domineering stepson on the other, he must have it tough,” Naoko couldn’t help but laugh.
“I just hope he doesn’t talk in his sleep, or we’re both doomed,” Lei Yin said, slipping his hand inside her shirt.
“Lei, don’t, your wounds aren’t healed yet,” Naoko whispered weakly.
“Don’t you know that accelerating blood flow is the best medicine for external injuries?”
“Where did you hear that?” Naoko murmured in a playful scold, not stopping him, just pressing her face into his shoulder, avoiding his gaze.
As long as he’s happy, she thought. The mature beauty gripped the bedsheet tightly with both hands, enduring waves of overwhelming pleasure, trying not to cry out. But his electrifying touch was becoming more daring, exploring her sensitive areas, and she wondered how long she could hold out.
Earlier, to not disturb Naoko’s writing, Lei Yin hadn’t turned on the TV, keeping the room quiet. Now, the only sounds were Naoko’s increasingly rapid breaths and her suppressed moans.
Though he couldn’t fully engage due to his limited mobility, this level of intimacy was more than satisfying for Lei Yin. He admired the stunning beauty in his arms flushed with desire, and couldn’t help but be captivated by her allure.
There are many words to describe a woman—pretty, strong, delicate, cute—but to Lei Yin, none fit Naoko better than “enchanting woman.”
“Lei…” With a sharp cry, Naoko’s body trembled violently, then stiffened. Her perfectly curved legs and delicate feet curled inward, her toes bending into a graceful arc. At the same moment, Lei Yin felt a warm rush against his fingers.
After a while, Naoko lay limp in his arms, gasping for air like someone oxygen-deprived, her skin flushed a rosy pink.
Gently rubbing his face against hers and kissing her softly, he tried to soothe her.
After she caught her breath a bit, he whispered in her ear, “Did you like it?”
“You’re naughty…” The mature beauty resting on his chest responded in a coquettish tone.
“Want to go again?”
“No, I’m afraid someone might come in. Can we wait until tonight when no one’s around?” Naoko pleaded.
“Don’t worry, aside from Maeda, no one knows I’m here.”
“But what if a nurse comes in to check your temperature?” Naoko made a final attempt to resist.
“They’ve already done that; they won’t come again before dinner,” Lei Yin wasn’t insistent, just teasing to see how she’d decline.
“But…” Naoko was uncomfortable with the idea of doing this where someone could walk in at any moment.
Just then, Lei Yin suddenly looked towards the door.
“What’s wrong?” Naoko followed his gaze.
“Looks like someone’s really here. I’ll let you off for now. Go tidy up in the bathroom.” Lei Yin kissed her before releasing her.
Hearing the word “tidy,” Naoko blushed and quickly entered the bathroom.
After a moment, she indeed heard a knock at the door.
“Come in,” that was Lei Yin’s voice.
Then, she heard the door open, followed by the sound of high heels clicking on the floor.
After a while, a cold female voice spoke, “Hello, I’m Ayano Eiko from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Metropolitan Police. We’ve met before; I wonder if you remember me? Mr. Gennai Masashi, or should I say, Gennai-kun.”
Looking at the composed Ayano Eiko in her black suit, Lei Yin said calmly, “What brings you here?”
Without waiting for permission, Eiko sat down on a chair. She then looked at Lei Yin with a peculiar expression.
“If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t believe you could hold your own against that thing. We’re practically strangers, so I won’t pretend to be here just to check on your health. I have one purpose: I need you to help me investigate this matter,” the policewoman stated her intention straightforwardly.
“I think you’ve got the wrong person. I’m just a regular student, not a detective, and you’re the police. Isn’t catching criminals your job?”
“I believe your stepfather has already told you about my situation. As he knows, my superiors have forbidden me from continuing the investigation. If there were any other way, I wouldn’t be here asking for your help,” Eiko’s expression was grave.
“If your superiors want you to drop it, it means they have a solution. Why are you still interfering? And why do you think I’d help you just because I fought that monster to a draw? If that’s the case, I suggest you bring heavy weaponry like a submachine gun when you go after it, rather than having a regular student like me distract it so you can take a shot from behind.”
“I won’t answer your first question. As for why I need your help, it’s not just because you can fight that monster, but because I know of your close ties with the Tokyo underworld organization, the Sakura Society. From what I understand, the Sakura Society has had people secretly protecting your family for over a year. I don’t know the exact nature of your relationship with them, but it’s clear it’s significant. You should also know that to investigate this, we need manpower and a robust intelligence network, which the Sakura Society happens to have.”
The Sakura Society is essentially a branch of the Black Dragon in Tokyo, known only to a handful of high-ranking members of the Black Dragon. To outsiders, it appears as just another yakuza group, similar to the Yamaguchi-gumi. It seemed this woman, despite her thorough investigation into his background, was unaware of his true identity.
“You’re a police officer, yet you’re colluding with a yakuza organization for an investigation. That’s quite the scandal. Is this case really worth it?” Lei Yin found her somewhat unreasonable.
“So, you admit to having ties with the Sakura Society?” The policewoman stared into his eyes.
“I didn’t say that,” Lei Yin shrugged.
“Although I’m forbidden from investigating this case, I’m not forbidden from looking into your connection with the Sakura Society. To avoid trouble for yourself, I hope you’ll cooperate with me. I don’t need you to do anything; I just want useful information.”
“Sorry, I can’t help you. If you ever catch me in a bind, then we can talk terms,” Lei Yin had no intention of playing the hero.
“We’ll meet again,” Ayano Eiko said coldly as she stood up.
“I won’t see you out,” Lei Yin said to her back.
“Lei, is this really okay?” Naoko asked after Eiko left the room.
“You want me to help her?”
“That’s not what I meant. This case is too dangerous; I don’t want you getting hurt again. It’s just, she seems a bit pitiful. You might not know, but that night when you passed out from blood loss, she was the one who brought you to the hospital.”
“I won’t feel grateful; she’s the one who brought that monster there and almost got you hurt. But hearing you say that, she does seem overly obsessed with this case.”
Naoko didn’t speak, just leaned on his shoulder, gazing at him affectionately.
Three days later, Lei Yin’s injuries had mostly healed.
Tired of the smell of disinfectant, he decided to leave the hospital early.
After spending a night with Naoko at his villa in Shinagawa, he returned to school the next morning.
At the entrance of his rented apartment, he ran into Shiraishi Akira, who was taking out the trash.
“You’re back?” Akira said simply upon seeing Lei Yin.
“You guys haven’t been staying here the whole time, have you?”
“Not me, just those two.”
Even the neatest Akira wasn’t there, Lei Yin dreaded to think what state the apartment was in.
“I’d advise you not to go in right now,” Akira suddenly said.
“Why? Those two didn’t bring women in here, did they?” Thinking of the nature of those two lechers, Lei Yin increasingly felt this was likely.
“No, just two men’s petty jealousy at play.”
Confused, Lei Yin eventually opened the door and stepped inside.
