“Mr. Lei Yin, may I have a word with you?” At 9 PM, while the boy was watching TV with Amy, the butler, Bacon, approached.

“Of course. Please have a seat, Mr. Bacon.” The boy gestured for him to sit.

Bacon sat down on the sofa and, after a brief silence, sighed, “So much has happened recently. I still can’t accept that Mr. Montreux has passed away.”

    “My condolences, Mr. Bacon.”

“With Mr. Montreux gone, I don’t know what will become of Miss Amy. Although Ms. Rodiman is now her guardian, she will eventually marry someday. I believe you’re aware of Miss Amy’s situation. Apart from you and Ms. Rodiman, she won’t accept anyone else. This puts me in a very difficult position. Do you have any suggestions, Mr. Lei Yin?” Bacon looked at the boy.

The boy glanced at Amy, who was intently watching TV, then turned back and said, “I have a suggestion. After some time, I hope you can arrange for Amy to attend a regular school.”

Bacon was visibly surprised by the proposal.

“But given her current state, even hiring a family tutor is a challenge. How can she possibly attend a regular school?”

“Mr. Bacon, I understand Amy’s situation. But excessive protection isn’t good for her. Do you intend to keep her confined at home, learning in isolation, until she’s an adult? Even for a normal child, growing up in such an environment is unhealthy, let alone for someone like Amy. She needs to experience the outside world, interact with others, and live like a regular child. Only then can she grow up healthily.” Masashi spoke earnestly.

Bacon pondered for a moment and began to see the logic in the boy’s words. However…

“Mr. Lei Yin, I admit your points are valid, but Miss Amy might find it difficult to interact with strangers.” Bacon voiced his concerns.

The boy thought for a while. “I’ll try to encourage her over the next few days and see if she can open up a bit.”

Bacon didn’t hold much hope for this suggestion. After all, Miss Amy had seen more than ten psychologists since she was little, and if it were that simple, Mr. Montreux wouldn’t have been so troubled during his lifetime.

“I just received a call from Mr. Rolando. He said Mr. Adams’ funeral will be held tomorrow morning. Could you bring Miss Amy to attend? After all, Mr. Adams was her uncle, and it wouldn’t be appropriate for her to miss it.”

“Of course. I’ll take her there. Don’t worry.”

“Thank you, Mr. Lei Yin. I won’t disturb you further. If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave.” Bacon stood up.

    “Good night, Mr. Bacon.”

“Good night, Mr. Lei Yin.” Bacon exited the hall.

At 11 PM, Masashi suddenly opened his eyes and looked toward the door. After a moment, the door softly opened, and a small figure slipped inside.

“Little one, what’s the matter? Can’t sleep?” The boy asked the figure.

“Lei… Mimi* wants to sleep with you,” the little girl whispered, holding her pillow as she approached his bed.

“Is it because Ailin isn’t in your room, and you can’t fall asleep?”

    “Mm.”

The boy thought for a moment. “Alright, come on up.”

The little girl brightened immediately, climbing onto the bed and excitedly arranging her pillow.

The boy chuckled as he watched her, then lay down on his side.

As soon as he was settled, the little girl burrowed into his arms.

“Amy, when you grow up, will you be okay with having your own room?” he asked while gently stroking the back of her head.

“No, Mimi would be scared alone,” Amy shook her head.

The boy paused before saying, “Little one, can I discuss something with you?”

“What is it?” Amy looked up at him.

“I can help seal away some of your painful memories. It might make you feel a bit happier. But since those memories belong to you, I need your permission first.”

Seeing her confusion, Masashi softly added, “For example, the incident involving your mother that you saw when you were little.”

The moment he mentioned it, Amy shuddered like a frightened rabbit, her whole body trembling as she burrowed tightly into his embrace, too scared to lift her head.

“Don’t be afraid. It’s all in the past,” he comforted her gently, holding her close.

He hadn’t expected such a strong reaction from her.
