“This man, though mortal, wields a blade that erupts with an earth-shattering blade intent!”

“Judging by his stance, this one-armed swordsman intends to fight the sea demon charging toward the shore…”

Suspended mid-air in the sky, Gu Ning’an cast a meaningful glance at the one-armed swordsman before shifting his gaze to the sea demon hidden within the massive wave.

While others could only see its vague outline, Gu Ning’an could perceive it with clarity.

The sea demon had the body of a turtle and the head of a human, its legs like four towering pillars extending into the depths of the ocean. To the eye, it seemed as if it was running along the seafloor while driving the monstrous waves forward!

Gu Ning’an had encountered mention of such a creature in the Path of Dao. It was called a “Sea Monk.”

This demon was greedy and violent, its bloodline ranking on the lower end of the demon hierarchy. However, it was said to carry a trace of dragon blood. If fortune smiled upon it, it could transform into a flood dragon. The “Sea Monk” was currently undergoing a tribulation to achieve this transformation.

Yet, judging by its frenzied state and its relentless charge toward the shore, it was clearly struggling to withstand the heavenly tribulation’s assault. It had become nothing more than a headless fly in a panicked frenzy.

Tap! With a crisp sound, the one-armed swordsman leaped down from the rooftop. His toes barely touched the water’s surface as he moved forward, creating ripples with each step.

Dragging his long blade along the surface, the swordsman advanced, his blade intent growing stronger with each step. A yellowish-brown radiance began to emanate from the blade.

From a distance, it seemed that with every step the swordsman took, the intent of his blade intensified, and the radiance spreading from the blade beneath the water surged brighter.

In less than ten breaths, the light from the long blade extended nearly a hundred meters, illuminating the pitch-black sea around him.

“To nourish the blade with one’s body, accumulating momentum…” Gu Ning’an murmured softly. He walked a few steps forward, remaining at a suitable distance from the swordsman.

If the one-armed swordsman were to fail against the Sea Monk, Gu Ning’an would intervene at any moment.

    “Roar! Roar!”

The Sea Monk, enraged and desperate under the assault of the heavenly tribulation, spotted the frail figure of the swordsman daring to challenge it. With a furious bellow, it surged forward, its speed increasing as it charged straight for the swordsman!

It wanted to crush this overconfident mortal into fragments with one strike!

    Clang!

In the blink of an eye, the swordsman, his momentum fully gathered, unleashed a single strike!

The yellowish-brown blade energy resembled a blazing sun as it collided fiercely with the towering wave that blotted out the sky!

    “Roar! Roar!”

The Sea Monk had assumed it could easily withstand the strike, but to its shock, the blade energy seemed to be its natural nemesis. As the strike landed, it began to suppress the demonic energy coursing through its body!

    Rip!

The “Great Sun” shattered the massive wave, tearing the Sea Monk hiding within it cleanly in two!

Having unleashed his strike, the swordsman’s body, which had soared high into the air, plummeted into the depths of the sea. The massive wave split apart by the strike crashed violently to either side.

The one-armed swordsman had indeed slain the Sea Monk with a single blow, but he was powerless to stop the surging waves from advancing further!

Even without the Sea Monk driving them, the waves, though diminished in force, still transformed into two smaller surges that continued their charge toward the small fishing village.

Gu Ning’an raised a finger, using it to shift the one-armed swordsman, who had sunk to the seabed, to the shore.

Next, he inscribed the word Stop in the air and commanded firmly, “Restrain!”

At this moment, the waves stopped, the wind ceased, and the rain froze mid-air. This strange scene made it seem as if time itself had been frozen in place.

    “Retreat!”

With a single word, the towering waves changed direction, rushing back toward the depths of the sea. The fierce winds carried the rain, blowing the thunderclouds in the sky away in the opposite direction.

In no time, the sky cleared.

As the tide receded, the once-saturated beach “saw the light of day” again. Various types of sea fish were stranded on the shore, flopping desperately.

The sound of “plop, plop” echoed continuously.

The sun had already risen, and a group of brave boys and girls rolled up their sleeves and pant legs, carrying wooden buckets filled with seawater, collecting the fish that had been washed up on the beach.

The adults in the fishing village, meanwhile, were busy reinforcing the dam with heavy tools.

The worst of the waves had not reached the fishing village, so the damage was minimal.

As people cleaned up the aftermath, they continued to talk about the massive waves they had seen from the back mountains.

Many had witnessed the yellowish-brown light shattering the giant wave.

Everyone believed it was the blessing of the Sea God, and some even called out in the direction of the sea, chanting words of thanks.

Little did they know, the so-called Sea God was actually lying just a short distance away on the shore.

The one-armed swordsman, his eyes closed, lay on the ground, his forehead marked with crisscrossing sword scars. Beneath these scars, the outline of the word “prison” could faintly be seen!

At that moment, the one-armed swordsman’s aura was disordered, and with each breath, his robust body was steadily repairing his damaged veins.

Gu Ning’an stood by, quietly waiting for the swordsman to wake up.

Before long, hurried footsteps could be heard from the street corner.

The newcomer was short in stature, but with a broad chest and back. Dressed in rough cloth and a hemp tunic, he looked around.

When he saw the one-armed swordsman lying on the ground and Gu Ning’an standing nearby, his small eyes quickly darted around.

He froze for a moment before jogging up to Gu Ning’an, cupping his hands in greeting, and smiling. “Sir, my name is Fan Yong, a traveling merchant. This man is my companion.”

Gu Ning’an nodded. “He fell into the water. I pulled him out, but he probably won’t wake up in a short while.”

“Ah! He fell into the water!”

“Then we must expel the water from his stomach!”

Fan Yong’s expression changed, and he hurriedly knelt down in front of the one-armed swordsman. He first patted his face. “Hero Jiang! Hero Jiang! Wake up!”

After checking the swordsman’s breath, he hesitated for a moment before feeling his abdomen, pressing down slightly. Once he confirmed that the swordsman had not lost consciousness from choking on water, he sighed in relief.

Nearby, Gu Ning’an reminded, “He is merely exhausted and unconscious. There’s no danger to his life.”

    Exhausted?

Hearing those words, the image of the yellowish-brown light breaking through the giant wave appeared in Fan Yong’s mind.

“Exhausted? It’s no surprise…” he murmured under his breath. He then cupped his hands toward Gu Ning’an and smiled. “May I ask your honorable surname, sir?”

“No need for formalities. My surname is Gu.”

“Mr. Gu, if you’re free, why not join me? I have some good items in my cart… You saved my companion, so if you find something you like, I’ll give you a discount.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Ning’an smiled and replied, “That sounds good.”
