Chapter 225: Fighting for a Chance at Survival
by Potato“Big bro! When the hell is this sorcery gonna end?!”
“It’s been 1,500 times already!”
“We’ve lost two of our brothers!”
Hearing the second-ranking wolf demon’s complaints, the lead wolf remained calm and replied indifferently, “We can only grind it out—there’s no other way.”
“That man’s strength… it far exceeds what I had anticipated.”
“We once feasted on others. Did you really think we’d never become prey ourselves?”
The moment those defeatist words left his mouth, the already frustrated wolves grew even more irritable.
Many of them began pacing anxiously, some even silently praying for the girl’s so-called “undying spell” to wear off soon.
But as expected, when Qiao Min stepped into the stone cave once again, their prayers went unanswered…
She was like a merciless killing machine.
Even though the agony of every “death” spread through every fiber of her body, she had long since become numb to physical pain.
To her, the chance to kill her enemies with her own hands was worth everything.
Time passed.
Twelve hours went by in the blink of an eye.
During this time, the wolf demons within the stone cave came to understand the true meaning of despair.
And when Qiao Min reappeared for the six-thousandth time, the second-strongest wolf—just below the leader—had his head severed with a single stroke.
After six thousand cycles of life and death, having slain eleven wolf demons, Qiao Min’s iron sword had begun to emit a faint crimson glow.
Swish!
The iron sword cut through the air, pointing straight at the lead wolf as Qiao Min spat out a single word—
“Kill!”
With a sharp “buzz”, a fierce sword aura shot toward the lead wolf!
But its gaze remained steady—with a mere flicker of movement, it easily dodged the attack.
It turned to Qiao Min and said, “Girl, let things go while you still can. You’ve already killed all my brothers… Isn’t that enough?”
“Kill!”
Slash! Slash! Slash!
With a sharp battle cry, dozens of crimson sword beams shot toward the lead wolf!
Seeing that negotiations had failed, the lead wolf didn’t rush to counterattack—it simply dodged effortlessly.
After observing six thousand of her attacks, it had already figured out the pattern behind her increasing strength.
At her current rate of releasing sword aura, it estimated that within a few more moments, her current body would become a powerless husk.
Without energy to sustain her, she had no chance of grinding it down to death.
After all, the same tactics that worked on ordinary wolf demons were useless against it.
And as expected—
A short while later, Qiao Min’s iron sword lost its glow, its color fading.
This meant—her energy was completely drained.
Just as the lead wolf was about to speak again, hoping to reason with her one last time—
Qiao Min suddenly drove her own sword straight into her chest!
In an instant, her body turned transparent and vanished from sight.
“Insane! She’s completely insane!” the lead wolf cursed, barely energyging to adjust its stance.
Before it could even move away from the cave entrance—
Qiao Min reappeared!
This time, her attacks were even more vicious.
Instead of precision strikes, she unleashed a relentless barrage—sweeping through the battlefield with waves of crimson sword aura aimed directly at the lead wolf!
Boom! Boom!
Dust exploded into the air.
Rocks tumbled from the cave walls.
And as the smoke cleared, the stone cave’s rocky walls were left covered in dozens of deep sword marks—each as thick as a finger.
“Stop wasting your energy!”
“No matter what you do, you can’t kill me!”
“You can’t even land a hit…”
As the lead wolf dodged nimbly, it spoke again—but before it could finish, the bloodshot-eyed girl once again chose to end herself the moment her energy was depleted.
For the next three hours, Qiao Min took her own life a total of 3,999 times.
The number of sword auras she unleashed was beyond counting.
Trapped in the cave, the lead wolf was like a moving target, and under such relentless and uninterrupted barrage, no matter how fast it dodged, it was utterly futile.
Now, standing in place, the wolf’s once gray-white fur was soaked in blood, and it was gasping heavily.
From its massive nostrils, foul-smelling blood dripped continuously.
“Damn it… Damn it all…”
“This is already the 9,999th time!”
“Everything in existence has a thread of survival. I refuse to believe that the immortal behind you can truly break free from the Dao and erase my one last chance at survival!”
“Ten thousand must be your limit!”
Swish!
A crimson sword aura arced in a half-circle, slicing into the lead wolf’s left shoulder, cutting away a large chunk of flesh.
This time, however, Qiao Min did not exhaust all her energy in one final attack. Instead, she stepped forward into the cave and, for the first time, spoke to the lead wolf—
“Does it feel like despair?”
Hearing this, the lead wolf let out a bitter laugh.
“Despair? Of course, I despair! More than despair—I hate!”
“Is that the answer you wanted?”
Qiao Min’s gaze flickered slightly, then she nodded.
“Despair is good…”
“Are you really willing to die with me?”
“I can guarantee that if you die this time, you won’t be coming back.”
In the final fifteen minutes, the lead wolf still refused to give up on negotiation, no matter how slim the chance.
But Qiao Min merely chuckled and said,
“You almost sound convincing… If only this weren’t a dream. If only I could kill every last one of you with my own hands.”
Dream?
What dream?
The lead wolf’s expression darkened. “You don’t actually think this is a dream, do you?”
“Hah… Why am I even wasting words with you?”
“Since I’ve come this far, I might as well finish it properly—by killing you and waking up!”
As soon as she spoke, Qiao Min’s expression turned cold and indifferent once more.
Tightly gripping her iron sword, she charged straight at the lead wolf!
“Madwoman!”
“You slaughtered my brothers, and now you think this is just a dream?!”
“If I’d known you were this much of a menace, I should’ve devoured you whole back then!”
Cursing furiously, the lead wolf clashed with Qiao Min once more!
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Crimson sword arcs met silver-white claws, filling the cave with the ringing of steel against steel.
In their ferocious exchange, neither side had the clear upper hand.
Yet, to the lead wolf’s growing horror, it realized—
In its wounded state, it could no longer overpower the girl.
And after hundreds of exchanges, fatigue began to creep in.
“HOOOOWL—!!”
A deafening, bone-chilling roar erupted from the lead wolf’s throat, momentarily stunning Qiao Min.
Seizing this opportunity, the lead wolf lunged forward like an arrow, its half-severed claw piercing straight through Qiao Min’s body and slamming her into the cave wall!
As she vanished once again, the lead wolf coughed up blood, its gaze fixed on the cave entrance.
A cup of tea’s time passed.
Yet, Qiao Min did not return.
“It worked… It actually worked!”
“The heavens don’t abandon us demons!”
“That little pest is finally gone for goo—”
The lead wolf’s voice suddenly cut off.
In its slit-like pupils, a crimson crescent moon was reflected.
Staring at that brilliant red crescent, its body froze, eyes filled with boundless confusion.
The next moment—
A wolf’s head soared high into the air…
And with a dull thud, it landed on the ground.
